dBµV ↔ Volt Converter

Convert between dBµV, µV and V. 60 dBµV = 1 mV.

Type in any field and the others update automatically.

dBµV
µV
V

Worked example

60 dBµV = 1000 µV = 0.001 V

Formula

V(µV) = 10^(V(dBµV) / 20)
V(dBµV) = 20·log₁₀(V(µV))

How it works

dBµV is a voltage level referenced to 1 µV. EMI receiver readings and mains conducted-emission limits (for example the quasi-peak limits in CISPR 32) are expressed in dBµV. Voltage is an amplitude quantity, so the formula uses 20·log₁₀.

Practical tipThe classic mistake is using 10·log₁₀ for voltage. Amplitude quantities (voltage, current, field) use 20; only power quantities use 10. Remember 120 dBµV = 1 V for quick sanity checks.
